The Wet Onion's Class of the Week: Fried Onion

It's time for another installment of The Wet Onion's Class of the Week!
This week's loadout: The Fried Onion.
The Fried Onion
The detailed description follows after the jump.

The Fried Onion

This is one of my personal favorites. I haul ass with this class 9/10 times I equip it, and I’ve even started using it less because I feel unfair (also because I want to use other weapons at times).

The AK-47 has a high damage-output, so there really isn’t much of a reason to not attach a silencer. However, with its high recoil, there isn't much of a reason to not attach the kick proficiency either, so you might as well kiss the other proficiencies good-bye. I’ve told a few friends about this set-up, and I've received mixed reviews, saying that it still has a ton of kick, others didn't seem to mind it. Thus, I recommend you pick this class only if you don’t mind a weapon with kick. Also, my accuracy with this weapon seems unusually boosted, scoring kills on very small targets across alleys on Seatown.

Handguns are a neglected set in MW3. However, practice enough with a certain pistol and you’ll find it’ll be almost necessary to your class. The P99 boasts a high fire-rate-cap as well as a fair amount of damage making a quick-thinking player a WMD. Once you get to the tactical knife/akimbo, it becomes even more reliable, and tears the enemy up in CQC.

I love this perk combination to death, and always roll with it on my AK class.

Recon Pro –This is quite possibly the most under-rated perk in the entire game. At first, it’s a tad useless, letting only plays hit by explosives show up. But once it’s up to Pro, this becomes the greatest perk ever. At pro, any enemy hit by a bullet is tagged. Think about that for a second. If you’re hit be a Recon-Pro-er, you’re lit up on the map for EVERYONE to see for about 15 seconds. Someone just activated an SR-71 on YOU, and you ALONE. You know those people who run for cover the second they get shot? Boned. Campers you knick with a grenade? Boned. The guy who FMG9’d you after you fire a shotgun blast in his face? Boned. Boned, boned, boned. You are a portable Blackbird.

Blast Shield Pro – The red perk I really don’t have much of a preference here. I tend to choose blast-shield for the enhanced protect from random grenades, especially on Dome, but really, any red perk works.

Steady Aim Pro – I’ve always loved the decreased spray that comes along with this perk. It works for every gun really, snipers excluded, so it helps to make the AK-47 more of a life-saver up close.

The concussion grenade is a love and hate kind of thing. Though it slows reaction-time, they can still keep tabs on you. With the flashbang however, though they can still move and attempt to target you, they’re blind. You could really go with either one.

The Semtex is my favorite grenade, and always has been since WaW as the sticky-grenade. I love the feeling of sticking someone, and in those tactical moments, Sticking it around a corner as the enemy pops up is a satisfying feel.

Surprisingly, I tend to not use the Assault or Specialist packages on this set-up. I love using support for two huge reasons: the numbers 14 and 18. The Stealth Bomber will devastate in Domination, and the EMP will screw over the enemy team for a little while. To be a dick, like me, as soon as a strafe-run comes in, EMP. An AH-6? EMP. Juggs? EMP. You follow? The chain goes: SAM Turret, Stealth Bomber, and EMP. The SAM is another favorite of mine, it keeps the UAVs and helos off your ass.

I don’t always use deathstreaks, but when I do, I prefer Hollow Points. Stay thirsty my friends.

  1. Ya know, I'm kinda intrigued. As it stands, ACR with silencer and extended mags is what I rock, but the extra power might be just what I need.

  2. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, anypony, but I think that the damage per bullet on the ACR is the same as the AK. They're both higher damage, lower firerate than their AR counterparts. I'm not super positive about the comparative damage dropoff ranges. I personally prefer the ACR over any other automatic assault rifle.

    1. Wait, no, I stand corrected. Assuming these sources are correct, the AK does 49 damage versus the ACR's 45, and the AK has minimally better range before dropoff. Not really a too noticeable difference in my opinion, but maybe it might be significant if you get a lot of foot-shots. Those multipliers do matter quite a bit. As for me, the uncontrollable recoil on the AK, and the fact that it unlocks way late in a prestige makes me less enamored of it. In light of these facts that I was unaware of though, I certainly would recommend giving it a try!
